Needle Sizes Description
Universal Picture 8/60 to 19/120 A multi-purpose needle designed to work with most weaves and knits.
Ballpoint Picture 10/70 to 16/100 A ballpoint needle features a rounded point which is designed to push between the fibers of a knit or elastic fabric without cutting them.  The size of the ball increases with the size of the needle.
Stretch Picture 11/75 & 14/90 Used with Spandex type fabrics, a more pronounced scarf is designed to prevent skipped stitches. Not compatible with all machines.
Sharp/ Microtex Picture 8/60, 10/70, 12/80 & 14/90. This needle is suitable for woven fabrics; the stitch is even and the sharp point helps prevent gathering of the fabric.
Leather Picture 12/8 to 18/110 The sharp wedge-shaped point of the leather needle is designed to cut through leather and other heavy materials as it stitches.
Denim Picture 10/70 to 18/110 This needle is very stiff and sharp; it is designed to stitch multiple layers of heavy, tightly-woven fabrics such as canvas and denim
Self-threading Picture 12/80 and 14/90 This general purpose needle has a self-threading slot that makes it easier to thread.
Topstitching Picture 12/80, 14/90 & 16/100 This needle is specifically designed to accommodate topstitching thread. The point is very sharp and the eye is large.
Embroidery Picture 11/75 & 14/90 A large eye and scarf allow special embroidery threads to pass through this needle without shredding and breaking.
Metallic Picture 12/80 The special design of the scarf and extra-large eye in this needle help to prevent metallic threads from shredding.
Hemstitch Picture HEM/100 & HEM/120 Sharp wings on the needle point create larger holes in tight weaves. This needle is used for stitching hems as well as some decorative stitching applications.
Twin Picture 1.6/70 to 4.0/100 Two needles in one, designed to sew two rows of stitches at once.  Useful for decorative stitching and hemming.
Triple Picture 2.5 & 3.0 Like the Twin needle, but featuring 3 needles in one which allow for 3 rows of stitching at once.
